| How long have you been in business? Daughters of Isis, inc. has created proprietary distilled, extracted and blended oils since 1993. We began to fill our flower essence apothecary in 1994 to formulate our flower essence companions in the cultural collections. (refer to the blender's bio wwww.ancestoraromachologie.com/blender.html ) What oils have you created? We are the only makers on the planet of a TRUE SWEETGRASS OIL. We began to extract Sweetgrass, White Sage and Osha root plants in 1994. These are absolute oils achieved through ancient formulas of plant alchemy using a pharmaceutical anhydrous alcohol to extract the plant essence and then extract a pure plant oil = absolute oil. We continue this process today with several plants to achieve our formulas of ethnobotanical necessity for our collections. These oils are vital meaning they are extracted with great attention, years of experience in doing it the wrong way and finally achieving a living oil. We do not refer to them as 'pure' oils because purity is a marketing misnomer in the 'aromatherapy' industry and can lead the buyer astray as to the true quality and value of the oil. We blend and create to inspire a QUALITY OF MIND to introduce you to the traditions and values of our Ancestors. We have blended many formulas for healing through these numerous traditions. If you have any questions regarding the quality and use of a specific oil, please call us toll free at 866-364-6457 and the blender or Asa will happily answer all your questions. Are your oils safe and hypoallergenic? Yes. Our Mayan and Yoruba / Caribbean collections require the use of fragrance oils to achieve a quality of mind; these are fruit scents. Our fragrances are hypoallergenic safe standardly...if you have sensitive skin, all essential, absolute and fragrance oils should be tested before used. We do not use 'drum' fragrance oils from chemical mass productions and color infusions ...these fragrances tend to confuse your nose (and Spirit!) or produce headaches after prolonged use and exposure. Especially in candle dressings! Why do your misters have such a great bouquet of scent? We do not preserve our misters with any other alcohol than the organic brandy we use to preserve our flower essences. They are the only alcohol content in our misters. They yield a more fragrantly true bouquet to our misters. Because of the volatility, we only ensure a shelf life of 12 months for our misters. We enjoy a nearly 100% approval and sales of our misters because of this quality of scent. How do you preserve your flower essences? After potentiating the a harvested blossom or infusion of a gem elixir, we use organic brandy (Korbel) to fix / preserve our mother tinctures. We use the same organic brandy to formulate our companion essences in the collections. We use a 45% ratio of brandy to preserve. What base or fixative oil do you use in your oil blends? We use a combination of cold pressed sweet almond oil, jojoba oil and rose hip seed oil. The shelf life of a DOI oil is approx. 26 months. The majority of our blends are good for several years. Do you use any other kind of preservatives (other than flower essences)? No. No parabens, detergents, dyes or propylene glycol ... the propriety fragrances we work with are hypoallergenic, though we do recommend testing your skin for safety with all essential, absolute and fragrance oils before using any aromatherapy or aromachology oil on your body. The safest way to work with your oils is aromatically...use an aromatherapy vapor lamp to defuse you oils into the atmosphere. Are your oils organic? Some are, some aren't. The FDA has no criteria for 'organic' essential oils as of now. [Farms are certifying organic splendidly, though.] We work for the quality of fragrance. Some organic essential oils are harvested from cleansed environments that have filtered the soil of characteristics that produce an outstanding fragrant bouquet. Though they are the best choice for physical healing, they are often cost prohibitive and do not express as vibrant a fragrance as many of the vaster harvesting farms have generation-ally anchored in their plants. We choose top shelf quality essential oils using our nose as guide! |
